The Good Gene

A billionaire geneticist, deeply troubled by the extremes of human morality, becomes convinced that there exists a "Good Gene" embedded within our DNA. His belief that this genetic component could explain and perhaps even enhance the best qualities in humanity drives him to pursue its discovery with unwavering determination.

To explore and prove the existence of the "Good Gene," he utilizes his private island as a controlled environment for experimentation. This isolated location allows him to implement his research without external interference, raising questions about the ethical boundaries he is willing to cross in pursuit of his goal.

As his quest unfolds, the stakes grow higher—how far will he go to validate his theory? Who might join him in his ambitious and potentially controversial endeavor? The reader is left to ponder: Would you participate?

I found this story intriguing and well written. I felt transported into the story which is what I like the most about reading a good book. When I put the book down at the end of the day, I couldn’t wait to pick it back up to continue. The author did a great job explaining all the medical elements. The details of all the technology used made this story informative and exciting to read. I loved that the story gives hope that there’s good people out there touching the lives of others. Great story! And I love the good vibes I felt at the end of it.

A Must Read!

Whenever I embark upon reading a book, if I am already captivated by the end of the first page, I KNOW it's going to be a great read. Being an avid reader, I can personally count such books on one hand. THE GOOD GENE written by DM McCracken is one of those books. The author's writing style is so creative & engaging that, from page one, he had my full attention, finding the book hard to put down. WOW! What a read! I loved it & can't wait for a sequel! Combining mystery, intrigue & suspense, along with a wealth of people, places & things all across the world stage, while educating the readers in otherwise unknown fields of thought, the author succeeds in creating what almost leaves the reader feeling like characters in the book are lifelong friends. Drawing from his vast experiences -- background, schooling, diversity in fields of work from Computer Programmer for NASA to flight Commander for United Airlines, the author takes his readers on an adventure blending reality with bizarre elements, waking emotional responses that are logically challenging at time, he leaves the reader with unsettling thought-provoking questions & challenging logical constraints, creating a mysterious world for the reader to navigate. From my perspective, I believe THE GOOD GENE to be an excellent Book Club choice. The writer has included thought-provoking discussion questions for his readers at the end of the book. It opens the door to so many avenues of thoughtful reflection & discussion. Upon finishing the book, I concluded that for me it is a feel-good book & was worth my time. I highly recommend it.
