Personal Journey

As a former airline pilot, I gathered experiences that fuel my passion for writing mystery suspense thrillers, exploring themes of genetic research and artificial intelligence in my novels. I often dream of far away places with characters completely made up involving some diabolical story line which must be dealt with for good to prevail. The Good Gene, my first novel, resulted from one of those dreams.

About Me

From Pilot to Author

Hi there and thanks for stopping by. Writing a book has been something I've wanted to do since I was a child. My best friend and I started writing a mystery together in fourth grade. We never quite finished but still have the manuscript to this day. Years later, my mother was able to write and publish a book. I was very proud of her and it inspired me.

As my professional flying career was coming to an end, I dusted off the outline of a story I had conceived of a few years earlier. The office I once knew, in the cockpit of an airliner, became my laptop linked to the imaginary world of the Good Gene my mind lived in.

Inspired by Adventure

I love the ocean. Anytime I can be near it, I am. The ocean is a great source of inspiration and where I enjoy writing the most. Flying across the vast oceans of our world to far away places has always instilled a sense of adventure. Years ago, I was able to take SCUBA lessons and get certified so I could explore these amazing oceans from underneath. The excitement of the unknown thrilled me on every dive.

As a kid, I also loved outer space, the moon landings and the amazing possibility of trying to understand and conquer it. I wore out the telescope my parents gave me for my birthday. Years later, along with my flying, I was able to work for NASA and be a part of some new and exciting programs that didn't exist in our day to day lives.

All of life is a beautiful adventure. My mind has collected my experiences from around the world, it's breathtaking landscapes and cities, it's diverse people groups, and juggles them all together while I sleep. These dreams inspire the stories that are the backbone of my novels. Enjoy --- Dave
